A lonely wait

The cafe was closing, the advertising board was returned for safe keeping, the outside table were being stacked and the general chatter of a busy cafe had gone

We had passed 30 or 40 minutes in the Arcade Cafe and were aware it was the end of the day. The lady close by seemed on tender hooks as I felt she was aware of the pending closure and her waiting had been in vain.

She left alone.
