Friday lunch time on a sunny day in Croydon is a good day in town – well for me and street photography.
Street photography takes time – time to blend in, time to watch what is happening and time to savour the atmosphere.
While lunch time is short, returning to the same area of a town centre helps: It stays the same, well on the whole anyway. Basic info such as the direction of movement of individuals and groups vary slightly. The age of people and mobility, families with buggies, and on-lead children or active strollers are different. Secure places to talk or refuge areas become noticeable.
This knowledge is there to be used and along with aid of a street photographer biggest friend – anticipation, helps raise the possibility of going home with a photograph you are happy with.
